Amsterdam – the sin city of Europe – has long been considered a mecca for Stag Parties. With its reputation for sex, drugs and partying, the Dutch capital is arguably the best place to spend your last days of freedom. It can be difficult not to trip over the hordes of stag parties that flock to the Red-Light District and it’s easy to understand why – Amsterdam’s naughtiest neighbourhood is crawling with great sports bars, coffee shops and of course sex – think strip clubs, the infamous windows and sex shows.

Many stag parties want to get out of the sports bars and get active – it’s a shame to spend the whole weekend sat in an Irish pub watching the same football matches that you would be if you’d never left your home town. Dutch food may not have the reputation of its neighbouring countries, but Amsterdam has shed loads of great restaurants to line your stomachs before a night’s drinking. For committed carnivores, Dutch meaty favourites such as spare ribs or sausage are sure to be a hit with the lads. If you love curries – we’re looking at you, Englishmen – avoid the Indian restaurants (never as good as the UK, for example), and head to a Surinamese restaurant instead. The city is full of them – spicy Chicken Roti is hard to beat and normally excellent value.
TRY SOME FANTASTIC LOCAL AMSTERDAM BEER
As well as the obvious Heineken and Amstel, there are a number of fantastic local breweries where beer enthusiasts can take their pick from a range of brilliant Amsterdam beers. Brouwerij ‘t IJ, often referred to as the Windmill brewery due to its location under tallest wooden mill in the Netherlands (De Gooyer), is a great place to start. Offering everything from tastings and tours to a great little bar, Brouwerij ‘t Ij is well worth a visit – and if you’ve accused less organised members of the party of being unable to hold a piss up in a brewery, at least now you’ve got somewhere to put it to the test!

Many stag parties look forward to visiting clubs and bars during their trip to Amsterdam.
